Temporary Winter Project Support Worker

Reporting to: Client Support Manager
Line Management Responsibility: Temporary Winter Project Assistant

Pay: £13.00 per hour
Contract Term: This post is a temporary contract- 2nd December 2019 to 29th February 2020 (with the possibility of an extension to 30th March dependant on funding)
Role subject to acquiring funding
Line Management Responsibility: Temporary Winter Project Assistant
Hours: 44-55 hrs every two-week rota pattern
Shift Hours: 9:15pm – 8:15am (Successful applicants maybe expected to stay on an hour extra, one day a month, for a project meeting at The Hub at 200 New London Road)
Closing date for applications: 14th October 2019. Interviews will be held week commencing 21st October.

Overall purpose of the job:

At CHESS we have a commitment to “Engage” and support “Change” however big or small in people’s lives. It is important that we, at CHESS believe that people can change, but also realise that some people come from complex backgrounds and as a result, skills possessed by our service are utilised to facilitate engagement at all stages of homelessness. We believe our winter project is a vital instrument in this process and we are very proud of our success in recent years.

 CHESS will be building on this success by providing the winter project for another year and we are looking for confident and committed support workers to work a waking night shift and provide a safe place to sleep, guidance and help for service users who would otherwise be on the streets. Aided by an assistant, and security guard, successful applicants will also provide food and drinks, put together assessments and note key services that could bring positive change for the individual.

This challenging, busy and rewarding position includes managing the expectations of guests at the CHESS winter project and applicants should be familiar in working with a hard to reach client group with multiple needs. All applicants should be available to work over the Christmas and New Year period.

Hours per week: 8-10 hours every two-weeks on a rota pattern. (Successful applicants may also be expected to attend a project meeting for an hour extra, one day a month, at The Hub at 200 New London Road – This is likely to on a morning)
Shift Hours: 9.30pm – 11.30pm
Contract Term: This post is a temporary contract- 2nd December 2019 to 29th February 2020 (with the possibility of an extension to 30th March dependant on funding).
Salary: £9.00 per hour

Successful applicants will also help provide food and drinks, put together assessments and note key services that could bring positive change for the individual. Security assistance is also provided.
