Wellbeing Support Worker

Line Managed By: Team Leader

Hours: 37.5 hrs weekly

Contract Term: 2 years

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • Work alongside the team at The CHESS hub and Winter Project, to improve rough sleeper’s physical and mental health, linking them into mental health services as required
  • Managing a caseload, key working service users and undertaking risk assessments, support plans and Outcomes Stars with follow up reviews.
  • Develop, create and maintain partnerships with voluntary and statutory mental health
  • Develop a Single Point of Contact arrangement between CHESS homeless and key mental health services
  • Provide intensive support to those who are referred to mental health
  • Enable CHESS Homeless service users with mental ill-health to retain their accommodation with CHESS or in the community to prevent eviction through appropriate support from CHESS and key agencies.

Overall Purpose of the Job

To work closely with EFDC Housing Needs Service

  • To provide an effective customer focused tenancy support service through strong partnership working and delivering a range of pro-active solutions.
  • To assist with the safety and security of a house of multiple occupation.
  • To assist service users to move towards greater levels of community integration and enhanced independent living.
  • To liaise closely with and facilitate/accompany the CHESS Outreach Team visits in the local area.

Rough Sleeper Outreach Worker (Temporary)

Line Managed By: Client Support Manager

Hours: 37.5 hrs weekly, hours flexible on a rota basis including early mornings, evening, weekend, and bank holiday working to respond quickly to referrals to the Outreach Service. Normal hours will be worked between 6 am and midnight, Monday to Sunday but you may be required to work at other times to facilitate the needs of the business, including nights.

Contract Term: Temporary until 31st March 2022

Overall Purpose of the Job

CHESS has funding to extend their outreach services to provide support in order to prevent and relieve rough sleeping in Mid-Essex.

Successful applicants will work as part of a developing team to provide support and assistance to referred rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping, assessing needs and facilitating the uptake of homelessness provisions, engagement with specialist support services and journey to independent living.  Successful applicants will engage and facilitate rough sleepers or those at risk of rough sleeping, to access basic services and accommodation, providing support along the way to address needs and promote independence.

Housing Support Worker

Line Managed By: Client Support Manager

Hours: Permanent full-time position. Hours will be worked on a rota basis between 8am-10pm, Monday – Sunday. This role will be based at Hodgkinson House, 200 New London Road, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 9AB

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • To assess the needs of homeless individuals approaching CHESS for support and help the team identify suitable applicants
  • To provide support to homeless individuals within CHESS Services in order to help them into independent living
  • To link/ refer clients to appropriate specialist services outside of CHESS
  • To assist in practical aspects of the running of a CHESS accommodation services.
  • To conduct house-checks in our move-on accommodation ensuring standards are being met and to maintain good relationships with our neighbours

Weekend Support Assistant

Line Managed By: Support Coordinator

Hours: Sat and/or Sunday. Hours will be variable and worked on a 3-week rota basis between the hours of 7am and 9pm and a minimum of 7.5hrs and a maximum of 12hrs worked each day.

Temporary, October 2021 until 31st March 2022

Overall Purpose of the Job

  • To be the first point of contact for all telephone calls and guests on arrival at Hodgkinson House.
  • To assist in practical aspects of the running of the property over the weekend
  • Handle service user enquiries and requests in Hodgkinson House and move on properties, referring to the on-duty support worker as necessary.
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
  • To assist with Administrative tasks

Bank Night Support Worker

Hours:  Nightshift

  • To manage practical aspects of the running of the shelter when on shift
  • To assess the needs of homeless individuals approaching CHESS for support and help the team identify suitable applicants
  • To manage entry, exit and risk for service users in the Shelter
  • To link/ refer clients to appropriate specialist services outside of CHESS
  • Handle enquiries from other CHESS accommodation as necessary

This position is subject to the satisfactory return of an enhanced DBS check.
