CHESS Homeless have a once in a lifetime opportunity to increase bedspaces to single homeless adults at one of our existing sites, currently called ‘Turning Point’. We hope to increase the accommodation from 9 to 24 units that will offer a significantly improved style and set up of accommodation.
On the right is a picture of the drawing for the new development, which will see 24 new modular self-contained homes built providing a private and self-contained place to live, whilst addressing the issues that saw them become homeless, with the help of trained support and life skills staff available on site.
The choice for modular housing is due to the short timescales in which we have to deliver this project through the ‘Single Homeless Accommodation Programme’ (SHAP) funding. It also means we are more likely to have the project operational by March 2025 once the build begins.
These units are also easily adaptable to ensure that people with health conditions or disabilities can live as independently as possible.
